“Why I Opened Homes for Homeless Seniors”

My name is Shanell and I founded a shared living community homes for homeless seniors because I believe everyone deserves dignity, safety, and a place to call home — especially in their later years. After seeing how many older adults were struggling without stable housing or family support, I knew I had to take action.

I opened my home — and eventually developed housing programs — to create a safe, caring environment where seniors could rebuild their lives. What began as a simple act of compassion has grown into a mission to fill the gap in services for older adults facing homelessness.

Through my program, seniors not only find shelter, but also community, connection, and hope. Watching them regain confidence, smile again, and feel like they belong reminds me every day why this work matters. My goal is to continue expanding opportunities for homeless seniors to live with dignity, respect, and love.
